Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest secured over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
